Kintsugi: The Japanese Art of Breaking Beauty

Did you know? Broken is beautiful. And proving it is Kintsugi, the amazing Japanese art of repairing cracked objects with gold to purposely illuminate the imperfections.

Inspired by this philosophy and aesthetic, Atrafloor has deliberately ‘broken' some of their textured floor designs to create a luxe Kintsugi Collection.

Perfectly Imperfect

The highs and lows of life make us who we are, and there's nothing more inspirational than a story of being broken and becoming stronger because of it. The Japanese concept of Mushin celebrates this idea, and is the reason why people practice the art of kintsugi.

With a mushin mindset, we can see broken objects as a reflection of ourselves. We may get broken and knocked down at times, but we patch ourselves back up as kintsugi does for sentimental artifacts. Each crack tells a story, and the gold proudly puts damage on display.

Chaji, Hibi and Wabi make up Atrafloor's Kintsugi Collection, created by taking regular stone, concrete and marble textures and enhancing their beauty with captivating gold cracks.

It's time to break beauty rules and get inspired by imperfection.
